Is it August...really?

Brynley
First of all a huge congratulations to my father. Way to blog! Along with everyone else, my thoughts and many daily prayers are with Jodi and Matt. I know this is a super hard time for both of you. I don't know what the happy ending will be, but I know it can be happy for everyone! I love you both. I have spent my whole life counting down days and months until August. This year I am dreading it. I've got my final project for my progtam that will end my first week of school and I"ll start my comprehensive finals on August 1st. I have 1 month to complete them. There are three questions and each question needs to be a minimum of 15 pages. My how I love research papers! Oh and my roommate Jessica has moved back in. That's a treat for sure! She really is a very nice girl who happens to be a different breed than me. But I think that could be a blessing. My boss will be gone for the next 2 weeks and I'm not really excited about that. He left a lot of lose ends for me. But I'll just do what I can and remember it's not my small business:) I've been working at the sorenson center again and it's making for some really long days. But maybe I'll get paid soon and it will all be worth it. Well, that'll do it for now. I'm so excited for Bear Lake! I love being with my family, especially in Bear Lake! Love you all, miss you Kyle.

I'm back!!

After a couple week absence and a reset of the password (I have too many of them and can't keep track what one to use for what), I'm back on the blog.

It's been a very busy couple of weeks. To update everyone, we're still on track to close on our house August 17th. Jodi and Matt have been nice enough to let us use their "Ann Frank" room as a place to store some of our boxes. We'll rent a storage shed for the larger items.

It appears that the buyer is an out of state investor. I'm a little worried about the deal falling through in light of what has been going on in the real estate market. It appears that the bubble is bursting for some or at least their will be some correction in the national real estate market. So I won't say we've sold our house until we see 'da money.

It looks as though we too will be heading up to Bear Lake on Saturday and staying until Monday afternoon. We're definintely excited about this and I'm sure the kids are as well, even though they don't know what is going on.

For Katherine's b-day, I had all of our videos taken on the camcorder put onto a DVD. Kath has enjoyed it, but Spencer and Abby can't get enough of watching themselves on the TV. It has been fun seeing the growth of our children right before our very eyes.

Well, there's my blog for today. It most likely is very boring, but at least I'm making an attempt. Look forward to seeing all of you this weekend.

Dad

How about that! I blogged! I would like to thank each of you, especially Brynley, for her tutoring. I would also like to make a suggestion for our family Bear Lake Experience. I realize that I am not the agenda setter for Bear Lake, but I do have a suggestion. Here it is. I suggest that we attend Sacrament Meeting at the nearest location on Sunday Morning and that afterwards we go back to the Priest house and have a family meeting. I suggest that each family member be prepared to share a scripture that has been especially meaningful to them lately and that we have a little testimony meeting. I recognize that there may be people at the Priest home from other families. Of course they would be welecome to join our little meeting. I also recognize that there may be members of our family who will not be at the Lake on Sunday morning. They will be excused. I welcome any input that any of you may have regarding this matter. I love you all-DAD

Gary

I don't know that this will work, but if it does, it is my very first blog message. Things have been going fast and furious here at our Mountainside Drive home. We'll be out of here on Thurday Morning. I have loved this ward and our home and everything about this place, but I am pretty excited to move on and see what the future holds. I am looking foward to our new home and to the next several months when we'll be in a kind of limbo. I drove from the Institute to our apartment in Salt Lake City. It was 2.8 miles and it took me 6 minutes. That could spoil me pretty quickly. Well, I don't want to spend too much time on this until I see if it works. I love you all. DAD

A New Day

Jodi

So its Sunday night. We just had the last, last supper at mom and dads house in F-town. I did live in that house for like 4 months one time and 6 months another time so really it has been good to me. However, ever since my room was transformed into a closet...well the setiments left then...so I'm excited for the new day. Plus it is like 4 minutes from my work (if the overpass construction ever gets finished) so I'm excited for lunch at ma and pas house:)
Things are going fine at work, I only travel once this month to Tennessese at the end of the month, so I'll have a lot of time around here. I think I have decided to go up to Bear Lake with everyone on Saturday night then stay until late on Monday night. I'll be driving the Jeep up and back so anyone who wants a ride that is windy and loud and fun is welcome.
PS Bring sunscreen for your lips!

Dear Family,

I opened up the blog and there are a lot of new ones posted. We got some cute pictures of Allison and family. They brought over three of those darling puppies. She is going to have her hands full when she gets the new baby. She hopes to have them sold before then. Linda will have to watch the female after she gets her baby. The Dr. says her baby is right on schedule and ways about 8 1/2 lbs. I don't know how to sent the pictures and 10:45 is too late to call Kyle and Jodi's not home. My sentiments and Dales too are for Jodi & Matt to make those necessary
moves in their lives. Life is too short and too fragile to sacrifice so much. Our prayers are with you Matt & Jodi.

Bryn, I had a mid term test that sounded like your final. I had to writ a two hour essay on workd cicilization withous a computer. Can you imagine taking it without a computre or dictionary. I was worried so sen him a mid term essay that I put pictures in, thinking that would go for the mid term one. I got a B plus on it and he is allowing it for my final. So I just have 7 more lessons and speedback assisgnments and a final test and I'm through. I don't think I will get too much done before Bear Lake. See you all next week and will probably write from B.L. if your mom has her lap top. Love you. GPA & I have a date to see a movie of my choice just so it isn't Green Fried Tomatoes or Ann(S) of Green Gable or Sense & Sensibility or Pride & Prejudice. And is a cowboy show. Love you all again, ibmom and gma and gg

An added note

MOM:

I thought I was up to date on my reading of the blog, but I just read Matt's message. I am truly hopeful that things will change for Jodi and Matt as well. I'm sure I can speak for all the family when I say that our thoughts and prayers are constatnly with the Jod and Matt! Love you-mom

Bear Lake - Here We Come!!

Marge Simpson:

Ok, ok, I'm always up for a competition. Dinner you say for the one who writes the most regularly for a month? Well, count me in baby. Especially since I have finished my web project and I can see we are down to about 20 boxes left to pack, then I've got all the time in the world!!

BEAR LAKE ALERT:
BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS AND SHEETS OR SLEEPING BAGS. FOOD ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MADE SHORTLY PER RONDA'S SUPREME ORGANIZATION.

Here is the updated schedule of Marge and Homer. (Thanks Jod-eye!!)
Today, Saturday we officially clean out our garage so the new guys can begin moving their stuff into the garage. Tues, I fly to Chicago. Wed night, the 1st we'll sleep at 874 for the last time. Thursday we drive to AZ to play the putting game with G'pa and a little Fink along with that. Friday we come back to the cooler Northern Utah. Saturday, is Jackson's baptism at 11am. Then we head to BearLake country via Maddox and Maceys. Sunday will be cool and Monday will be Boating day. Fun in the Sun (or rain...doesn't matter). Tuesday, more of the same. There will be watermelon, cantalope and corn on the cob just because that's what you do up there. And who knows what else. Wed afternoon we clean and leave. Thursday Dad has a retreat in the morning while G'ma and I go to fun places she has got her sights on in SLC. That afternoon we close on our house and head for sunny Az to play again the putting game, Fink, Golf and may get to watch a Western. I am going to get a pedicure to reward myself for um...well I'll think of a reason by then. And I go to dinner with some former friends at CHW. Sunday, the 12th, homeward bound. Life gets back to a dull roar and then maybe we can be of some help to the Ryan' Polls as they pack and move.

Love you guys bigger and better than Bear Lake....whoa!

Bear Lake - Chicago - St. George

Hello Family,
We'll I'm home for a minute! Two weeks ago I went to Bear Lake with 47 girls for girls camp. We had a great time, did the ropes course in Logan then played on the lake for several days. Man girls camp is not what it used to be! But it is still fun. So I was the sunscreen Nazi and made all the girls wear sunscreen. But I don't make a great German because one of the girls got 2nd degree burns all over her body...must have missed her...and my lips got burned so bad they swelled to twice the size! Well that's how I went to Chicago...big lips and all.
Erica was there at the airport to pick me up. We spent the weekend with her family and Skylars family. They are great people and its like I have a home in Chicago. We went to eat a lot and I think I gained 5 pounds. They love to eat and drink over there and I was happy to be a part of it. Then I worked the trade show and did the usual trade show stuff. Hope I won the sales contest cuz I got some good orders for us. You can check out my company blog too...if you scroll down to the 23rd you can see pictures of what we do when we are there...http://www.makingmemories.typepad.com/
I came home then went to St. George. I was on my way to Kanab to stay with some friends when it started to rain...a lot. Well in a Jeep with no top it got a little crazy so I pulled into Doris and Lamas garage. Luckily they are in Alaska and Rachel was there to let me in! 5 minutes after I pulled in along came Sandy and we all went to eat (Morgan and his wife too) at the Pasta Factory. Sandy paid so I feel a bit guilty, but we had a good time and it worked out to be stuck in Hurricane. Sandy followed me home it rained till Fillmore, but I was loving all the Jeep driving I got and didn't mind a bit. The Jeep title came in the mail this week too, so I really own it without a payment finally! Good new too.
We'll that is my travel report. Glad to add Bear Lake to the list again because I love that place...I'll bring the sunscreen!

Happy Pioneer Day!

Brynley,
Hello Family, although I don't know where anyone is. Grandma is definitely winning the dinner of her choice by her faithful postings. Speaking of which, I'm most excited to see you grandma in a couple of weeks! and in Bear Lake, it sounds luxurious. It is hard for me to believe that the 24th of July is here, what happened to summer? I did run in the Days of '47 10K this morning. It was a good run and all downhill, until the final 5 blocks which destroyed me. Somehow I'm alive to talk about it. It looks like I've got a lot of homework to get done in not a lot of time. I think the hard part about this project is that I am without direction, don't know where to start, so I just haven't. Salt Lake is treating me well, I have managed to find some evenings available to play some ball and work. I've been working at the Sorenson again in the evenings and with an agency called Grandfamilies. I work with children who have been taken away from their parents for whatever reason, and now their grandparents have gained custody. They are a tough bunch, but I"m learning a lot, getting school credit and paid to do it, so let's see,..worth it. I love you all so much and look forward to hearing from you, although it is obvious that we are in a time of life that blogs are not number 1 priorities. Love you all!

Excitement ahead, one day at a time

ibmom & gma

Just talked to Jill and there is excitement ahead. Most important is Jackson's Baptism and confirmation to receive the Holy Ghost. GPA feels very bad that he can't make it up. But I understand and we hope Jackson can too. Like Jill and I said, if he feels better in another week, or 10 days, he's welcome aboard.

Then we're going to Bear Lake after, and stop in at Maddox and get some groceries in Logan at Macy's. Does all of that sound familiar to you? We've all been there and done that before. Linda wont be coming nor will Joel. He gets Zack started at Dixie College in St. George on the 4th. Then after B.L., Jill and I and anyone that wants to will go to This is The Place monument park and then to the Church art musuem in S.L. Jill & Gary will close on their house and then we'll head down to Mesa. Jill and Gary will head home for S.L. and hope their apartment is ready for them to get in. Aren't I lucky to have such wonderful children?

Chris wrote me a short e-mail and I thought I would quote from it. "I'm out on the aircraft carrier for another 6 months and I'm done in the Navy. I'm pretty excited about getting out. The Navy is not for me. I don't get a lot of chances to check my e-mail. Tell everyone hello.
His address is (christopher.marler@cvw1.navy.mil)

Jeff and Linda came over last night and brought a Pizza and a movie called Fly Boys. It was a very good movie about planes in World War II. Got to quit for now. I take my mid-term exam next Wed. the 25th. Have a happy 24th of July. Love ibmom & gma

Move it!

Troy
I now have all my stuff out of Mom and Dads house. That is a pretty big step for me. It has been fun to go through all of my things and think of all the memories that I have had in that house. It was a place where I had alot of my firsts. High School, first date, learned to drive, went on my mission and returned to the same place. All of those big deals happened there in that house and I feel grateful that things went as well as they did. Heavenly Father definatly guided us there for a reason and I am glad to have Farmingon as an important part of my life. It will be missed, but I am sure that even better days are yet to come in Ogden for me and in Centerville for our wonderful parents.
I have been playing a little basketball in a rec league in Clearfield and in quite a few 3 0n 3 tournaments around the valley. Good luck to Mom, Dad, Ryan, and Katherine with the fun things happening with yall and your housing situation.

July is Hot!

Brynley
Hello Family, I know that we are all in different parts right now, so I at least will forgive those that are late. This weekend was a good one for sure. BBQ and softball on Friday night, Volleyball tourney on Saturday, yes it was very hot, but I lived and we took 3rd, then I went out to South Jordan and saw my good friend Irene Garcia, many of you may remember her from Ecuador and from her visit last summer. Well she is in town again and it was so good to see her and get caught up. Well it could have been better news she gave me about the wards circumstances,...but it was awesome to see her and try to spit out some spanish. Saturday night I played raquetball for the first time in a long time and I'm not sure if I'm sore today from volleyball or raquetball I just am sure that I hurt. Sunday I went to Angeleena's little sisters homecoming and the poor thing couldn't speak English very well. What a reminder of a very rough time of life. But it was good to see her. I've got my project for my program underway now and hopefully I can get going on this and have it finished by summers end, we'll see how it goes. I'm working at the Sorenson in some evenings and at my internship on the other evenings, so getting a lot of hours in, but that's a good thing, all kinds of good experiences with these kids. Well, that about sums up my week. I love you all. life is good and it does just keep going.
ibmom & gma

It's a beautiful day...looks like rain. I forgot to do my blog last night, but from the looks of it, so did everyone else. Welcome to Joel, Ryan, Troy, GPA, and the rest of you. Last week, I got a p.s. to the birthday card my 4 kids had sent me. It was from Joel, my birthday boy. I read it over at least 10 times and then went over the whole card the other kids had written. It gives me memories of a lifetime. Each so individual. Each remember this or that, some of which I'd forgotten, but had my memory refreshed. FAMILIES ARE FOREVER. We've got a sign out on the front entry that says The Marlers and Families are Forever. Our Catholic friend questioned us on that the other day. Cory and all his family, Shelley, Ben, and Michael are at Disneyland with Ronda and Jackson to celebrate his 8th birthday. They're having lots of fun. We have been trying to make arrangements to be up there for that. It doesn't look like it will be too easy. GPA just doesn't feel good enough to travel. I think I can do it on my own. Jill and Gary will be out of their home by then and need a place to hang out. So we will make reservsations at the Country Inn in Bountiful. Then I will see whether I'll drive up, with your mom's support (and leave GPA without a car or we will borrow one of Jeff's, or I will fly up. These are all in the planning stage, but I hope to be able to come up there. Hope all goes through with Ryan & Kathryn's sale. Love you all, GMA & ibmom

I'm so happy to have a family again. Welcome to the new comers, and good news, I can get to our blog from work! Not, that it will distract me or keep me from working really hard everyday, Just now I can participate on time. Luv you all!
Well after much scrutiny, RP is now an official Blogger. That is, if I can figure out how to send this after I'm done writing it.

For those who haven't heard, we have sold our house. Of course, it hasn't closed yet and the buyer left plenty of loopholes to get out of the deal if they choose. So we shall see what happens here.

I'm out for now, but will do my best to post a "blog" when something cool happens. That is if I can remember how to get back to where I am now!!

Hello Fam

Troy
Glad to be here. I am excited to be a part of the family again. I feel official at last. Love yall.

Its Joel

Hello Polls

Thanks for the invite to be a blogger.

I feel so important.

Jodi fixed me up so this is an official test.

Today my boss is being a real jerk and making me go to work, so look for more from "us" ( Ziggy and I ) in the future.
Thanks Again.
Joel

4th of July - well almost

I think the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. Why...because it means it officially summer. Now that there is now school and they don't let us out of work for 3 months, I rely on the 4th. It is soooo hot and I love it all. My Jeep top has been off for almost a month straight now, and while I should feel bad because we need rain and there is a forest fire bigger than before I can help but smile everytime I am in the Jeep with the wind and the heat and well, I love it. So that's that.
My niece was baptized on Saturday and that was cool for her. We all met at Merilees house after and Emma (my niece) was really happy. It was cute.
Mom and Dad moved about 15 boxes in the Anne Frank room in our house that can't get hot in the storage shed. So we'll be rummaging through those for valuables later. Ryan and Kath, the same offer is on the table for you...we have so much storage and its available to y'all.
This week is girls camp so I get to go to Bear Lake for the week. I really miss our cabin up there so I can't wait to go have some fun up there. I really do love my girls and it makes me glad I'm not 15 and worried about the silly things they are concerned about, but its fun to watch anyways.
After Bear Lake I go to Chicago on Saturday...early for my Trade show so I can hang out with Erica and her family. Sounds like plans are already made for some good game playing and perhaps a Cubs game. It will make it worth it to go work hard for the rest of the week selling a bunch of scrapbook paraphernalia the rest of the week:)
Well love you all..thanks for the Last Supper in the F-Town house. It was a good one and fun too. Thanks Bryn for paying rent so I can come swim...it really makes your rent check worth it for me too!
Brynley
Well, I've got a paper to write that is due in a couple of hours, so that's usually when I do things like write in a blog. This week was one of many and I've been enjoying summer in between work. I've picked up another job and I'll be starting some more hours at the sorenson center in the evenings, I'm not exactly sure why, they just sounded desperate. It looks like the rest of my summer will be spent working on my project for school, and doing my comprehensive finals. I'll get those assigned next week and they take a month to complete. I heard it's just like writing 3 20 page research papers, it shouldn't be too bad, right? So this week in my time off I found some time to fit in some volleyball, running (finally) and a lot of good pool time. That pool is making my rent check more and more worth it. The job search continues, I think I will find one more job in my life, and just do it until I die so I won't have to do this again. But honestly at least there is Allstate. I love you all and hope all is well!

Dad & GPA

Slowly getting better. But it took my whole family; children, grandchildren, gr. grandchildren, and wife to help me get to where I am. I can't thank all of you enough. Now with aqua-therepy, I'm slowly getting better. However I sure have kept my eyes and ears on all of you. I appreciate you and love all of you. Dad & GPA

P.S. Grandma just about sold our house out from under us. But when she started to put everything down she would want in a new house, she found we already have it here. And we don't have to pack and we don't have to look for another place. We both couldn't handle it.
GMA & ibmom

It may be tricky, but I'm going to see if gpa and Dad will write a little. He said he would 3 or 4 hours ago. We had a nice neeting. Two ladies spoke on the Plan of Salvation. They covered it well. Kyle, those fireworks sounded awsome. And they were even better than the Osmonds in Provo. Brynley, I've used your expression: "just as always, life happens." I'm trying to express my desire to get off his dine and send me some test information. Life is happening too fast and I want that degree sooner than not at all. I got an e-mail address for Chris. He just sailed out of port for a time heading towards the Mederteranean or there abouts. It is:
christopher.marler@cvw1.navy.mil. He may be glad fore a short note. Ryan and Kathryn, we hope your house deal gets going. Jill & Gary, Let me know a home address as soon as you can in case the Church offices call and want to know where you are. Love you all lots and remember who you are, and act accordingky. Love, GMA & ibm

The Best Fireworks Ever!

Kyle:

So last night I saw the best fireworks show I've ever seen. Hands down. We were on the rooftop of this building overlooking the East River and we were right in the middle of the action. The buildings were shaking with the booms. Here's an article I saw on Yahoo about the whole deal: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070705/ap_on_re_us/4th_of_july. So it's been a pretty exciting week. I watched the Yankees play yesterday and they lost which is good news in my book. This weekend I went to a bar-b-q, played ultimate frisbee, watched a Staten Island Yankees game, went to a rooftop party, and broke my new camera, and went to church. I think I'll be getting a new camera today. I talked to Gma Poll on her birthday and I feel bad I missed out on the celebration. She said it was wonderful. Work is coming along well, I still enjoy it and I feel like I'm learning a lot and meeting some great people. Grandma Poll told me not to love it too much out here so I'll try to tone it down. I love you all and I love hearing from you. Ry and Kat, congrats on the house! Mom and Dad, you too. I almost feel like I need to sell a house this month just to fit in around here. I love you all more than Bear Lake!

It's independance day

Brynley
What a week, just as always, life happens. This last week I had the opportunity to go to drug school. There was a national conference on the U of U campus where I got to pay some money and go learn about drugs and alcohol. I took the whole week off and told my boss I would be in rehab for the week. He was happy to have me back sober today. I'm really glad I went to the conference I learned so much and finally feel like it was directly applicable to my desires. I have a job interview in the morning with East High School as a counselor, I don't think I fit the education and experience credentials listed, but hopefully I can convince them that I do. I've started a new second job this week too. I'll be working with kids whose parents can't take care of them so they are now being adopted by family members. (grandparents, aunts etc.) It has been quite the eye-opener. I appreciate experiences that keep me grateful and this has and will continue to remind me of so many blessings.
Mom and Dad, Ivan and Jessica have offered you their house as well, As long as you don't mind living with a pregnant Jessica. I'm afraid you will need to be out by February 1st because your room will be the nursery at that point.
I'm sure most of you have heard about my friend Dave Leavitt who was in that car accident on Hwy. 89 on Thursday. Apparently he will be having back surgery tomorrow, and eventually will have a lot of emotional as well as physical healing to do. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.
Well, I better wrap up and hit the sack, it was good to be with almost everyone yesterday at grandma's birthday celebration. what a neat family we have. Luv you all! Have a wonderful 4th of July wherever you may be!
Brynley

Where is everyone?

ibmom & gma

Tis a beautiful day out there. It's a little after eight a.m. and not 90 degrees yet. Where are all the people that used to post weekly on internet? Ryan? Gary? I love hearing from Kyle and all his fantastic experiences at the State Fair, in the park, playing soccer, doing service projects, attending Church with investigators, etc. And to think Jill and Gary are packing boxes makes my head spin. I told your mom, but it's worth repeating. It makes me appreciate my home more. A lady stopped at the house last week and wondered if we would be interested in selling our house. They would really like a 3 car garage. I took her through and her eyes sparkled. I told her we didn't have an estimate, but we thought it worth at least 300,000. She said if we were interested in selling to call her. They just live down the street from us. About 4 hours later, her husband came to the house and said: "we don't want to rush you, but I'd like to give you $25,000 down and you get an estimate and whenever you want, we'll buy it from you." Your mom said to write everything we would like in a new home. After I got through with the list, it had everything on it that we already have. (except it's older than 5 years old and it still just has 2 bathrooms. Then I thought of packing boxes and I just don't have the strength to do that. The stress of moving would be too great. We love our home. So I called them and said no thnks, we don't want to sell. GPA decided he'd quit griping at the things that need fixing and have patience to wait till we can get somone to repair. Jeff said if it gets too hard on us, he and Linda could move in with us. So that takes care of that.

GPA is going to the Physical Therapist today and see if he can get more mobility in his legs. He took a fall yesterday morning coming out of the computer room. I heard a little mumbling, but not distress. By the time I came in, he was in a chair, but couldn't get up in it. We got him up and we were still able to go to Fast Meeting. His feet have been swelling. The lassix hasn't helped that much. So the next thing we'll do is check with the heart Dr.

I'm discouraged with my class at BYU. I can't get the prof. to answer some questions about the mid term. I will try one more time today to get the tutor. I just don't have that much time left to spend extra weeks getting hold of the prof. We'll see. Hope all is well with you. Love, ibmom and gma
